Reading and writing is fun to Tom, why read another book, film or play a game and have to put up with how others have told the story? Put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard and write the story yourself.
Tom hopes to retire in the country on his royalties, quietly sipping tea and having millions of adoring fans wait on his very word. You've got to have a dream.
