Seek Enlightenment

Trevor, being a little eccentric and mentally unstable, thought that he could reach inner peace and enlightenment if only he tried a little harder...

Trevor works in IT, a bit of a geek, a bit of a loner, aimless, harmless. Little does he know he is the pawn (or perhaps the rook?) in a game of chess played out between Good and Evil. It is a game as old as Time itself, played out on a multitude of different dimensions, in the past, present and future – and all within the course of a week! When Trevor gets an innocent enough spam email entitled ‘Seek Your Enlightenment’ he sets out to do just that, a challenge in his otherwise internet-orientated life. Trevor, in all his lives across time, gets more than he bargained for. The Hero, the Devil and Trevor play out an intricate, intertwined and sometime dark plot; but who will win in the end?

"Recently, Trevor found himself spending an awful lot of his spare time sitting in a variety of different chairs drinking tea. If asked, he’d tell of his deep thinking and purposeful contemplations of life. If pushed a little further he’d admit to falling asleep a lot of the time and never being able to remember what he’d been thinking about"

"The conversational, irreverent tone of the writing is especially interesting; it has a slightly post-modern leaning, with the narrator and characters addressing each other and the reader at different points in the book. A style seldom seen in outer-space end-of-the-world books (Terry Pratchett excepted), this book could potentially appeal to a wide readership as it doesn't take itself too seriously." inthenews.co.uk

"It's a fun trip for the reader (not so much for Trevor and his cat Eight-Ball), and to add to the humour, Thomas includes his own musings on the way of the world."

"The title Enlightenment may also sound better suited for the philosophy section of a library. But Thomas P. Cox's book is far from a weighty tome for academics - in fact it's a good laugh, which is a good thing, as it's supposed to be." West Sussex County Times

This book is really funny - it is the first time I have laughed out loud reading a book since Three Men in a Boat.

This book is a clever, witty and enthralling read. Brilliant for anyone who likes Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett or Robert Rankin."
